Joining Us: Guidebook

Join us  for six weeks of Monsanto-free filming!

January 15- February 26, 2012

Goals

  • Encourage people to stop consuming Monsanto/GMO products by sowing seeds of skepticism about the safety and ethics of genetic engineering
  • Contribute to the work of existing community movements about this human rights issue

How might our bodies change when we reject, for six weeks, processed and pesticide-sprayed food, and food made with genetically altered ingredients? Well, that’s what Jess and Mary are trying to find out.

Join us!

Guidelines/Rules of the Game

  1. Absolutely NO Monsanto food products or byproducts will be ingested.
  2. Absolutely NO Monsanto personal hygiene products will be applied to our bodies.

Ready to go? For those who want to join us on this adventure, or already have joined us, here are a few choices of how to use your voice:

Option 1: For One week or More

Reject Monsanto products by agreeing to live one week or more along with us during our 6 weeks.

  1. Just indicate which rule or both you think you can follow!
  2. Post pictures, videos, blogs, recipes, lessons, stories, etc. to A Patented Life’s Facebook page or send us an email we can use to share with others.
  3. Call companies, let grocery stores know, and/or tell restaurants that you can no longer purchase their food while there are GE ingredients being used.

Option 2: For One day or More

Reject Monsanto products by agreeing to live one day or more along with us during our 6 weeks.

  1. Just indicate which rule or both you think you can follow!
  2. Post pictures, videos, recipes, lessons, stories, etc. to our Facebook page or send an email with info for us to share.
  3. Call a company or let a grocery store or restaurant know you are avoiding GM ingredients.

Option 3: Learn more by following our Monsanto-Free Task of the Week!

Challenging Monsanto can be fun! Each “Task of the Week” is designed to spark conversations and to digest (pardon the pun!) all of this information. Visit our Facebook page if you are up some fun mini-challenges!

And, if you end up deciding you want GM food labeled, sign the Just Label It Petition.

Going Monsanto-Free

For those who are going Monsanto-Free and searching for Non-GMO products, here’s a handy app for your smartphone, and here is the Non-GMO Labeling Project’s Shopping Guide.
For organic produce and products, check out Natural Food Markets in your area, or the Natural Foods section of your local supermarket. We encourage you to bring a friend along (and get ready to check labels)!

We want you all to decide for yourselves, just as we have decided for ourselves through our research, that this is one way we can speak out against the effects of Monsanto’s products on our lives and our world.  We are joining those around the world who are gathering against them and we have the minimum goal of reaching the Consumer Tipping Point, just as they did in Europe.  Check out this short video by Jeffrey Smith and then let’s demand it together for ourselves and generations to come!

And, hey, based on the laws of supply and demand-  if we start to demand more organic that means more organic foods in more stores and restaurants, and prices will fall, right?
